WHAT: LIGHTNING ROD

Lightning Rods intercept lightning bolts and transmit the current into the ground by a wire that connects the rod to the ground.

Lightning Rods are placed at the top of buildings because lightning tends to strike the highest object in the vicinity.

When on land, Lightning Rods dissipate the current from a lightning bolt into the ground. When on a ship the lightning rod sends the current into the water.
