He was one of four men elected to represent the Massachusetts Bay Colony at the First and Second Continental Congresses.
He was the first Vice President of the United States.
He was the second President of the United States, 1797-1801.
He was the first President to live in the newly built White House. Upon his second night in the White House, he wrote to his wife, "May none but honest and wise Men ever rule under this roof."
He wrote most of the state constitution of Massachusetts, which was acclaimed, for its specific bill of rights. Many other states used features of Adams documents in writing their own states' constitutions.
He died on July 4, 1826, on the same day that Thomas Jefferson died.
