The Liberty's Kids interstitials are 30-60 spots set in the context of the Liberty News Network, a colonial news magazine show hosted by Ben Franklin. In every Liberty's Kids TV show there are four interstitial spots, each of which has a specific educational objective.
The Liberty's Kids interstitials include:
- LNN Newsbytes - A 60 second spot at the beginning of the show, with Ben Franklin serving as the news anchor. These spots highlight key issues or events that appear in the show, give young people a sense of the geographic context for the show, provide fun insights into colonial America and allow Ben to share his remarkable insights and witticisms.
- Mystery Guest - A 30 second spot coming after the first act that focuses on an important historical individual in the show. The Mystery Guest spot uses a game show type format, revealing three clues about the "mystery guest" and encouraging the viewer to guess his or her identity. Mystery Guest is hosted by James, a teenage American boy who is a lead character in Liberty's Kids.
- Now and Then - A 30 second spot coming right after Mystery Guest. As its name suggests, Now and Then compares and contrasts various lifestyle, cultural, technological and health issues from the Revolutionary War period and the 21st century. This spot helps young people make connections between their own lives and the lives of colonial Americans. It is hosted by Sarah, a teenage girl from Britain who is a central character in the TV show.
- Continental Cartoons - A 60 second spot at the conclusion of the show in which a series of illustrated "clues" are drawn on the screen to help viewers guess the name of an event or a character or the words in a famous historical phrase. The viewers play along with James, Sarah and Henri, who are also trying to guess the correct answer. This segment is hosted by Henri, an adolescent boy from France who is a central character in Liberty's Kids.
